Patrick English has been involved with international trade since 1989, and in particular with China, serving as Trade Commissioner in Malaysia, Shanghai, Beijing and Southern China as Consul General. Patrick also represented
NZTE on the
New Zealand China FTA negotiations team and led the market implementation programme for the NZ China FTA. In 2013, he returned to New Zealand to become the first Executive Director of the
New Zealand China Council. Patrick is on the Board of
Confucius Institute in Auckland, is a media, conference moderator and seminar speaker on the New Zealand China trade and economic relationship, is a long standing contributor to programmes with a number of New Zealand universities. Patrick also Chairs the Ministry for Primary Industry’s New Zealand Agricultural Growth Partnership Advisory, and more recently moderated and facilitated a number of MPI APEC21 working group sessions. Over the years, Patrick has been involved with and has led a number of industry working groups, including in agriculture, food & beverage, education, energy, aviation and telecommunications.
