Clare van der Lem

Clare worked for the Ministry of Health for 27 years; she worked as Manager of Food Regulation before being appointed to the role of Manager of Med Safe. Clare was Medsafe’s manager during the Hemp cultivation trial. Clare oversaw the writing of the Hemp regulations prior to her departure from Medsafe in 2005. Clare was subsequently a senior manager in the Ministry of Social Development, and then worked as a Public Health Promotion Officer from 2015 to 2018 after moving to Invercargill in 2014.

 

 

Tony van der Lem

Tony worked as a bank economist in various roles for 9 years, including 4 years in the Reserve Bank, he started working for Ministry of Agriculture as a senior policy analyst in 1996 and was appointed as MAF representative on the Hemp Trial Liaison committee in 2001, Tony was the Deputy Chair of Hemp Trial Committee. He assisted with the design of the hemp trial parameters and along with the Chair of the Committee, reported back to Primary Sector Parliamentary Select Committee on the progress of the Hemp cultivation trial.

 

After moving to Invercargill in 2014, Tony retrained as an accountant and now works as a tax accountant and director for VDL Accountancy Services Limited, he is also Managing Director of Hempseed Holdings Ltd, a hemp research company which has developed 5 new NZ acclimatised hemp varieties and assists on an occasional basis, NZHIA as a government liaison officer.
