Researcher at AUT: Commercial viability of Boatbuilding with Hemp biocomposites in New Zealand.

Aim of Research: To understand the potential of replacing fibreglass with Hemp fibre to manufacture composites for the boat-building industry within the New Zealand ecosystem.

Gautam MN is an experienced Design and Commercialization Strategist with a deep-seated passion for forging innovative, customer-centric solutions. With over a decade of experience in product design and development, his career has spanned partnerships with med tech start-ups, inventors, tech incubators, SMEs, and MNCs. In his current role, he is pursuing a research degree at AUT, researching Hemp bio-composites. 


Gautam completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in 2004 and, after two years of working as a CAD CAM instructor, he went on to complete his post-graduation in design from the National Institute of Design, India, in 2009. 

 

From 2009 to 2022, Gautam led a product design agency where he oversaw the successful worldwide launch of more than 38 products. He is also a co-founder of a med tech company that is at the forefront of treating breast cancer using Hyperthermia technology. 

 

Gautam focuses on Sustainability, Social Impact, Innovation and Product Commercialization.
