Nigel is one of the co-founders of and Chief Exploration Officer at Ligar, a company that specialises in molecular separation using molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs).
Ligar has been active in cannabis purification for 5 years and have developed MIPs and processes to rapidly separate cannabinoids from initial extracts at large scale. Aside from this, Ligar develops polymers to target valuable molecules, taints and toxins from plant extracts, wine, juices, water and even industrial waste.
While NZ’s legislation currently prohibit the production of extracts from hemp flowers for the nutraceutical and food markets, there are many options open to hemp producers to manufacture extracts from the seed and hulls. His talk will briefly explore some of those options and their commercial viability.
